Off to a great start!

Good day to all!

One of the NAMI Board Members shared the following which totally embodies why the walk is so important:

"I am a Board Member of NAMI which stands for National Alliance on Mental Illness. As a parent I often puzzled over the behavior of my oldest daughter. I was offered the chance to take a Family to Family Course sponsored by NAMI. My wife and I found the answers we were looking for related to treatment, doctors, drugs and family interaction.

"You see, I have a beautiful 20 year old daughter who should be able to do anything with her life due to her personality, beauty and brains. There is only one hitch – mental illness! My daughter Ann is bi-polar and I am sure that you know the implications of the disease. My wife and I attended a NAMI sponsored class that taught us how to deal with mental illness. This helped us so much that I was hooked and agreed to join their board of directors.”

The number of team has increased from 15 last week to 26 today and the number of Walkers has increased from 22 last week to 71. What a great start.

We have posted some great tips for team building on the namiwalks website: www.nami-hc.org/walk.

Keep the goals in mind: 85 teams and $130,000.

Winners of the Coney Island tickets are:

Brenda Hale from Tri Health Concerns
Rowan Downing from Beech Acres
Kathryn Thompson form MHAP
Gina Johnson from DBSA Middletown

Goal for next week – increase the number of teams to 52!

I have two vouchers for four Reds tickets each and would love to have another raffle and give two Team Captains a fun day at a Reds game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
